Jian-Kang Xiao obtained the B.S. degree in electronics and M.S. degree in radio physics from Lanzhou University, China , in 1996 and 2004, respectively. He obtained the Ph.D. degree from Shanghai University,  China , in 2007, and then he joined South China University of Technology, China, as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow from 2007 to 2009. He worked at Hohai University, China, from 2009 to 2011, where he was awarded as one of the first batch of Changzhou city's "831 High-level Innovation and Entrepreneurship Talent Project" in 2009. He joined Xidian University,  China , in July, 2011. He was an academic visitor in Tianjin University,  China , and Heriot-Watt University,  U.K. , from 2013-2014 and 2015-2016, respectively. His research interests include microwave passive components design, antennas and wireless technologies.

    He was a Senior Member of China Electronics Society, a Senior Member of IEEE, and a Member of the Professional Technology Group of Intelligent Systems and Chips, Internet of Things Committee, China Communication Society. He was also a part-time professor in Key Laboratory of Opto-technology and Intelligent Control, Ministry of Education, China. 

    He has authored/coauthored 70 international journal articles in IEEE Transactions, IEEE letters and IET journals, et al, and more than 50 conference reports. He has also solely authored a special subject (a chapter) in Encyclopedia of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (John Wiley & Sons Press) and a monograph on "Microwave Planar Circuits" in Publishing House of Electronics Industry, Beijing,  China . 

    He has been granted six Chinese invention patents as the first inventor, and he also chaired more than 20 research grants and fundings, including the National Natural Science Foundation of China. He was a reviewer for about 10 IEEE Transactions, IEEE letters and IET journals.
