Prof. Dr. Zhicheng Cao, holds a PhD in Engineering from West Virginia University (USA). He is currently works as an Associate Professor at Xidian University, Xi'an, China. He graduated with a bachelor's and master's degree from the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Xi'an Jiaotong University, and Formerly worked as a senior algorithm engineer for autonomous driving at a high-tech company in the United States. His research interests include computer vision, intelligent medical instruments, biometrics, machine learning, and pattern recognition. He is the PI of over 20 research programs funded by China Natural Science Foundation, Ministry of Education, Shaanxi Provincial Key Research and Development, Shaanxi Provincial General Projects, Chongqing City, Xi'an City,  CCF, and several companies. He has made many contributions in the fields of multispectral and extreme conditions (low light, long distance, occlusion) facial recognition and facial anti deception, fingerprint recognition, palm print recognition and other biometric recognition, as well as intelligent medical engineering (such as intelligent endoscopy, intelligent dentistry, intelligent traditional Chinese medicine). 

He leads a team and invented the intelligent full respiratory endoscope, and the developed the traditional Chinese medicine acupoint recognition projection and electric therapy system. He published over 40 SCI journals and international conference papers, including IEEE TIFS, IEEE TSMC, and PRL. He is the author of 3 books, including "Modern Technology of Biometrics", "Biometric Encryption Theory and Applications," and "Face Recognition Across the Electromagnetic Spectrum" (published by Springer). He holds more than 20 national invention patents and software works. 

He is serving as Associate Editor of IET Biometrics, Editorial Board Member of IET Software, Editorial Board Member of Computational Intelligence and Neuroscience, as well as Chair of ICCIA 2025 Technical Committee, Chair of PRMVAI 2025 Workshop, and Member of 2023 AAIA Program Committee. At present, he is the expert consultant of artificial intelligence for many enterprises, the special committee of artificial intelligence and pattern recognition of the Chinese Society of Computer Science, the special committee of intelligent medical treatment of the Chinese Society of Artificial Intelligence, the special committee of medical imaging of the Chinese Society of Image Graphics, the standing member of the special population tuberculosis prevention branch of Shaanxi Anti tuberculosis Association, the deputy secretary general of the alumni of the life medical health industry of Xi'an University of Electronic Science and Technology, the senior member of the Chinese Society of Optical Engineering, and the member of the Chinese Society of Biomedical Engineering.
